Where to play?
In 2017, Blueprint launched Ted, a slot themed to the film of the same name. Released in 2012, Ted is a comedy film about a man who wants to move on in life, but his childhood teddy bear, who came to life thanks to a wish, prevents him from doing so. Given that the film’s more for adults, the teddy bear is very lewd, crude and foul-mouthed. Ted Megaways is an enhanced version of the original Ted slot. It’s new for 2020 and has some of the film’s most prominent characters appearing as symbols on the reels.
Symbols and Payouts
The symbols that can land on the slot’s reels include the card ranks A-9, an angry-looking swan, a six-pack of beer bottles and the Tami-Lynn character (played by Jessica Barth). There’s also the slot’s logo – the word ‘ted’ in white against a green background – which is the most valuable one. For a chain of six across the reels, you receive a payout worth 6x your stake. As well as the standard symbols, the slot has a scatter, which has ‘Thunder Bonus’ on it.
The slot uses the Megaways mechanic that was developed by Big Time Gaming and has been licensed to other providers to use. With Megaways, every time you spin the reels each reel can have two to seven symbols on it – the number is determined at random. The slot has six reels: reels 1 and 6 can have two to seven symbols on them, while reels 2 to 5 can have two to six symbols; there’s an extra row above reels 2 to 5 that gives each of them an extra symbol. Because of Megaways, the number of ways to win changes on every spin and it can be very high indeed. In fact, if all six reels have seven symbols on them, this gives you a huge 117,649 ways to win.
Whenever you form a winning combination, the Cascading Reels feature kicks in. All of the winning symbols vanish from the screen and the gaps they leave behind are filled by symbols dropping down from above. Any new symbols are the same size as the others on the same reel, so the number of ways to win stays the same for each cascade. Thanks to Cascading Reels, you can land an unlimited number of consecutive wins from a single spin of the reels.
On any random spin, the Mystery Symbols feature can activate. Ted, who’s usually by the bottom left-hand corner of the reels, comes to life and uses his ray gun to shoot lightning bolt symbols onto the reels in random positions. All of these symbols then turn into the same standard symbol, giving you an extra chance of winning.
To play the Thunder Buddies free spins round, you need four or more scatters to land. If this happens, you’ll be awarded a dozen free spins. You can accept these or reject them and spin the Thunder Wheel instead. This awards you some free spins and a minimum number of ways to win on every free spin. Bear in mind, however, that the Thunder Wheel can give you fewer than a dozen spins, so there’s some risk.
While using free spins, the Unlimited Win Multiplier feature is in effect. This adds a multiplier that starts off at x1 and increases by x1 for every consecutive win. Ted symbols appear during the free spins round and for every three that land, you receive some more free spins to use. Collecting three Ted symbols also triggers the Megaways Upgraded feature, which increases the minimum number of ways to win each remaining free spin has.
Ted Megaways is the newest online slot themed to the Ted film. If you’ve played the original Ted slot, you’ll notice that this latest one is a lot different in a few ways. First, it doesn’t have nearly as many special features and bonus rounds. Second, it uses the Megaways and Cascading Reels features, the former giving you thousands of ways to win and the latter letting you score multiple consecutive wins in a single spin. So, even though Ted Megaways isn’t as feature-heavy as the previous Ted slot, it’s still a good enough slot in its own right. It still offers a free spins round and a random Mystery Symbols feature, so it still has some bonuses that can be triggered.
