Play Deal or No Deal Golden Box Megaways at these casinos
Deal or No Deal Golden Box Megaways is one in a string of DOND themed casino games released by Blueprint Gaming since partnering with the creators of the epic TV game show to do exactly that. This is, however, only the second DOND slot that features the popular Megaways engine, effectively making it the sequel to Blueprint’s 2019 release: Deal or No Deal Megaways. While the graphics, appearance, and overall atmosphere of this version remains the same as the original, there have definitely been some alterations worth mentioning. Let’s get straight to it.
Symbols and Payouts
This is a Megaways slot so each reel can randomly display between 2 and 7 symbols. This makes the paylines dynamic, meaning that they can range between 324 and 117,649 on each spin. There are 6 reels on the slot and there is also a ‘top’ reel that contains only four symbols. It sits atop the middle four reels. All pays are from left to right and the wild symbols and scatter symbols can only appear on the ‘top’ reel.
On the low end of the paytable we find the regular royals that pay out between 0.8x and 1x the bet for 6-of-a-kind. The premium symbols are, in ascending order: mugs, bank seals, gold envelopes, and DOND boxes. The premiums pay between 2x and 50x the bet if you land 6. Players must land at least 3 matching symbols to strike a win, except for the highest paying symbol where you only need to land 2.
The maximum win possible is 25,000x the bet, while the betting ranges between 0.10 and 10 per wager. The RTP on this sequel has been increased slightly to 95.34% while the volatility has been lowered to medium/high. All this sounds like it should make for some reasonable play time if you have a decent bankroll.
Deal or No Deal Golden Box Megaways incorporates the cascading symbols feature that results in chain reactions. When a winning combination strikes, all the winning symbols explode and are replaced by new symbols. This means players can strike multiple winning combinations on a single spin. The cascades continue until no new winning combinations land on the reels.
The cascading feature is central to the DOND Megaways slots because each time a cascade occurs a player will level up. There’s a meter on the screen that shows you which level you have reached. The meter resets each time no more winning combinations land. The aim is to get as many cascades as possible when in the base game – without having to place another bet as that will reset your progress.
There are 7 levels on the meter. The first three levels don’t award any bonus games but the following four levels each award a unique bonus game. The levels work like this:
- 4 Cascades unlocks the Deal or No Deal Bonus
- 5 Cascades unlocks the Deal or No Deal Super Bonus
- 6 Cascades unlocks the Deal or No Deal Mega Bonus
- 7 Cascades unlocks the Deal or No Deal Golden Box
The first 3 bonus games listed above work very similarly. The player is presented with a screen containing 22 boxes that are numbered. On the left side of the screen there are 11 prizes to be won. On the right side of the screen there are 11 prizes to be won. The games work the same as they do on the Deal or No Deal TV Show. Players must select a box which has a mystery prize inside. They must then follow a process of eliminating boxes with corresponding prizes. Each box selected will eliminate one of the prizes listed.
At the end of the bonus round there will only be two boxes remaining – the player’s chosen box and the box that has not yet been chosen. At this point you will be hoping that the bigger of the two prizes still reflecting on the screen is in the box you originally chose. Of course there is also a ‘banker’ calling you throughout the bonus game to offer you prizes for ending the bonus round, thus forfeiting the prize you may have won if you continued playing.
The four different bonus games that can be unlocked each have different features. The higher up the bonus game appears on the meter that is in play during the base game, the better the bonus game is. The prizes that are on offer in the first three bonus games are:
- Deal or No Deal Bonus: cash prizes ranging from 1x to 10x the bet plus 8 to 12 free spins plus a bronze box
- Deal or No Deal Super Bonus: cash prizes ranging from 1x to 10x the bet plus 8 to 20 free spins plus a silver box
- Deal or No Deal Mega Bonus: 8 to 20 free spins plus a gold box – no cash prizes on offer in this bonus feature
The most prestigious bonus game is the Deal or No Deal Golden Box feature which is unlocked with 7 cascades. In this bonus round, players are presented with 3 golden boxes and can win between 20 and 50 free spins depending on the box chosen. Similarly in the other three bonus games already mentioned, if a player wins the bronze, silver, or gold box they also win a decent number of free spins.
The free spins are the real treasure cove on this slot because they include a number of features that really ramp up the winning potential. First up there’s an unlimited progressive multiplier in play. Each time a cascade occurs during the free spins it increases the multiplier by x1 – and the best part is that the multiplier doesn’t reset until the free spins are over.
There are also mystery symbols in play during the free spins. During the feature a random number of mystery symbols can appear on any spin – up to a maximum of 100. When the mystery symbols land on the reels, all instances of the mystery symbols will reveal the same random symbol. They cannot reveal scatter symbols.
Lastly, the free spins can be retriggered during the feature by landing 3 or 4 scatter symbols in the ‘top’ reel. 3 Scatters awards 5 additional spins and 4 scatters awards 10 free spins. There is also no limit to how many free spins can be accumulated.
Verdict: Deal or No Deal Golden Box Megaways
Players who played the first Deal or No Deal Megaways might go into this game thinking that nothing much has changed. After giving it a chance you’ll realise there have been quite a few significant improvements. The addition of the boxes to each of the bonus features is definitely a plus. Equally as enjoyable is the new Golden Box feature. It appears that Blueprint decided to give the Jackpot King Deluxe Bonus feature a miss on this slot. Nevertheless, this game will appeal to players who enjoy the free spins, Megaways, the Deal or No Deal TV show, and to jackpot players.
