Where to play?
Embark on a swashbuckling expedition for some buried treasure with Blueprint Gaming’s new Pirates’ Frenzy slot. New for February 2020, the pirate-themed slot has a lot to offer. Even though there are loads of slots inspired by seafaring pirates already available, Pirates’ Frenzy is sure to please.
Pirates’ Frenzy is played on a standard three-row, five-reel grid. However, there’s an extra sixth reel that can come into play during one of the slot’s special features. The graphics do look kind of ‘old school’ as far as slots go. They’re bright and colourful, though they do look like the sort of graphics you’d see on a slot released around the millennium or so when online slots were first launched. Having said that, the slot still looks good and what many players appreciate most is the gameplay. When playing, you won’t win too often since the slot has a high volatility. Its RTP is 96.12%, which is pretty good and slightly higher than most other slots.
Symbols and Payouts
Pirates’ Frenzy is set on a desert island beach on a bright, sunny day. There are 10 paylines that you can win on. To win, all you need to do is have three or more matching symbols appear on a payline. These symbols need to be on adjacent reels and the line of symbols has to start with reel 1, the slot’s leftmost reel. The lowest amount you can bet with is 0.20 per spin, while the highest is 400. The slot’s wide range of betting values should make it appeal to both beginners and high rollers alike.
The slot’s symbols include the card ranks A, K, Q, J, 10 and 9, as well as various pirate-themed ones including a bottle of rum, an anchor and a parrot. The one to watch, however, is the pirate symbol. Not only is it the most valuable symbol the slot has, it’s also the slot’s wild, substituting for any standard symbol to help you form winning combinations.
The Extra Bet feature can be turned on whenever you like. If you turn Extra Bet on, the sixth reel becomes playable, however the value of all bets is doubled. When the sixth reel’s in play, you can form winning combinations with six symbols. All six-symbol winning combinations pay out twice as much as the corresponding five-symbol winning combinations. With six reels, you also have a higher chance of triggering the slot’s free spins feature. When you play Pirates’ Frenzy, will you stick with five-reel play, or will you double your bet and activate the sixth reel? It’s certainly tempting, especially since you can win with six symbols for higher payouts and are more likely to trigger the free spins round.
Speaking of which, landing three, four, five or six pirate ship symbols rewards you with 10, 15, 20 or 50 free spins respectively. During the free spins feature, money bag symbols can appear. Each one of these appears with a value that’s a multiple of your bet. If there are any money bag symbols on the reels when the pirate symbol lands, the values on all money bag symbols are added up and paid out to you.
Pirates’ Frenzy is quite a simple slot overall, though that doesn’t mean it should be overlooked. What makes this slot especially appealing is its free spins round. Not only can it be played with quite a large number of spins, it can also be quite lucrative, since there are extra payouts that can be won. It’s not the most feature-heavy slot, nor does it have the most immersive visuals, but it’s still fun to play and can offer some generous payouts.
