Where to play?
Kingmaker is a regal-themed online slot developed by Big Time Gaming. New for 2019, it’s one of a growing number of slots to use the provider’s Megaways mechanic. Thanks to Megaways, each spin of the reels can have a huge number of ways you can win. Kingmaker is played on a grid with five reels. On every spin, each reel can have between two and seven positions on it. The total number of positions on the grid changes with every spin. If all reels have two positions, there are 32 ways you can win. However, if all reels have seven positions, there’s a huge 16,807 ways to win! The setting for this slot is a towering castle filled with riches out in a mountainous landscape.
Like other Megaways slots, Kingmaker has quite a high variance. As for the slot’s RTP, it’s 96.65%, which is pretty good. You won’t win too often when playing, though when you do your winnings should be on the higher side.
Symbols and Payouts
There are ten standard symbols in Kingmaker that award payouts for landing three or more on consecutive reels. The chain of symbols has to start on the leftmost reel for you to win. The slot’s low paying symbols are six cards ranks (A, K, Q, J, 10 and 9), each one a different colour. Then there are four gems embedded in gold, each one representing a different animal – there’s a serpent, a hippogriff, a minotaur and a dragon. The slot’s highest paying standard symbol is the dragon, which offers a 10x payout for landing five on consecutive reels.
As well as the standard symbols, there’s a wild and a scatter. As usual, the wild can substitute for all standard symbols, helping you to create winning combinations. As for the scatter, it’s represented as a golden crown. It’s the slot’s highest paying symbol overall, rewarding you with a 250x payout for five on the reels. Unlike standard symbols, the scatter can land anywhere and you can still win – scatters don’t have to be on consecutive reels to pay out.
While the Megaways mechanic will appeal to lots of players, the slot’s special features should also go down well. First of all, there’s the free spins feature. Land three, four or five scatters to receive seven, 12 or 20 free spins respectively. While free spins are in play, the slot’s played using the highest number of Megaways. In other words, each reel has seven positions on it, so every free spin has 16,807 ways to win.
To the left of the reels, you’ll notice there are banners with 1x multipliers on them for each of the four gem symbols. Whenever you win with five matching gem symbols, that gem’s corresponding multiplier increases by 1x. When you trigger the free spins feature, all of the gem multiplier values are added together and applied for every free spin. While you’re using free spins, landing a five-gem win will increase the multiplier by 1x and landing three, four or five scatters will reward you with another seven, 12 or 20 free spins.
Kingmaker is yet another fantastic slot by Big Time Gaming. It uses the provider’s popular Megaways mechanic, which has been such a success that it’s actually been licensed out to several other providers to use on their slots. When playing this slot, it’s all about the free spins feature, which can have a pretty high multiplier and can last for quite a while thanks to scatters awarding you more free spins. Kingmaker is quite straightforward, but it’s great fun to play and is sure to be another hit for Big Time Gaming. Have a spin of the reels and try to earn lots of five-gem wins so you enter the free spins round with a big multiplier!
